24 uur lang brengen we hier ons verslag uit van de 24-uurs race van het Cycling Zandvoort event waarbij het Baum-Babici fabrieksteam op de voet zullen gaan volgen!
De start is zaterdag om 12.00 uur ’s middags. De finish is zondag eveneens om 12.00 uur. Daartussen zit 24 uur racen! We zijn heel benieuwd hoe de race zal gaan verlopen en welke tactieken er gevolgd zullen worden. Helemaal onderaan deze pagina zijn de realtime rondetijden en posities te volgen.

FINISH – 5TH PLACE!
Door een aanval van Thijs, tezamen met een knaller van een eindsprint wist hij de 5e plek zeker te stellen! Knap gedaan! Winnaar is Team 24, tweede is Fast Forward Wheels en derde is Fiets1 geworden.
Al met al een prachtige 24 uur. Helaas geen podium maar toch knap 5e.
Nog wat informatie:
– in 24 uur zijn er in totaal 223 ronden gereden van 4,307 km (Team Baum Babici reed er 218)
– totaal gereden door het team: 938 km
– snelste van Team Baum Babici 5:46 (snelste ronde van allemaal was 5:44)
– gemiddelde snelheid over 24 uur : 39 km/u
10:20 The finish is getting close now!
Fifth place seems to be the best results to go for at this moment. This doesn’t mean the remaing two hours will be easy though. Average lap-speed of the front bunch is still around 40 km/h. The wind has dropped though and the weather is amazing. Also the atmosphere round the track and within the team is excellent. They’re tired, but still joking around. At this moment Arjan is pushing the pedals to go for that fifth spot and will be switching with Johannes soon.

Na een harde race in het begin van de nacht, en een rustig laatste deel van de nacht is het nu aftellen naar 12 uur. Het Team moet nu vechten om plaats 7 met Team Stappenbelt 1. Een grote groep draait nu redelijk constant de rondjes met een gemiddelde van net onder de 40 km/u.

The large group is awake… Team 24 takes a 50 second lead. 40km/u avg. No cruising anymore.

Large group is cycling into the night. 4th place for the Team. Most important of all: Massage!
22:20 Suddenly it gets dark

21:00 – Sfeer is steeds goed, de tijden wat minder
Team Baum Babici fietst nu redelijk stabiel op de 7e plek. De vermoeidheid slaat een beetje toe, maar de sfeer is nog steeds goed. Ook Team FastForward (die trouwens lekkere pasta hebben) fietsen goed mee. Samen met Team 24 rijden ze aan kop. Op 3 ligt team van Fiets.
18:40 – Zon
Heerlijk weer, geen wolkje aan de lucht en vechten om de 5e plek. Dat is de update voor dit moment. Dirk voelt zich nog goed, Thijs heeft net zijn stint gedaan met gemiddeld 40km/u, Johannes draait nu zijn rondjes, Arjan ligt op de massagetafel en Dirk moet zich weer aankleden. Geen moment echt rust tijdens zo’n 24-uurs. (voor mij in ieder geval niet:-))
17:15 – 6th place for now
Dirk managed to gain some places so Baum Babici is now on 6th
Johannes looking tired: “speed is killing and the wind makes it a heavy race”
But he still has time for texting!
16:00 – Photo update
Team FastForward and Team 24 on the head of the race. Team Baum Babici on 9th place. Here some photo’s. Fast Forwad mechanics are taking care of the bikes. Johannes is now on the bike for the Team
14:35 – Oeps…
Because of the speed Arjan had to leave the head of the race. Thijs takes quickly over and the Team is now 3 minute behind 🙁
14:01 – Avg 42,0 km/u
Dutch: Arjan heeft de plaats van Dirk overgenomen. Er zijn nu na de wissels is er duidelijk een kopgroep van 6 man. De eerstvolgende groep heeft precies 1 ronde voorsprong op de tweede groep. Er wordt duidelijk hard gereden: met 63 km in anderhalf uur kom je toch aan de 42 km/u.
13:10 – Still going strong
Still at the head of the race. With 5 others because of some who did a riders change. Dirk is not getting tired so far!
12:00 – Lemans Start
The Team looked relaxed, Dirk started for the team and rides with 14 others on the head of the race. They started at full speed.
